Today I'm going to review this amazing product I just picked up a few days ago, but already love.
I used to be all about the Urban Decay Primer Potion. But not only did it make my eyelids a bit oily, the price is a bit steep, and I'm all for saving money when I can if there is a cheaper product out there that works just as well. NYX HD Eye Shadow Base is that product.
It works like UDPP. You put a bit of it on your lid and blend it in with your finger. It's a very light skin tone shade, and I'm not sure if it blends in clear or not on darker skin tones as it matches my skin tone exactly, but it did not look like there was any noticeable color on my lids.
It made my eyelids smooth and I didn't notice any oily residue. I've never had a problem with eyeshadows wearing off on me, so I can't vouch for the staying power of this product, although other reviews I have read say it makes the eyeshadows stay on longer.
You're probably wondering, well, if I don't use this so my eyeshadows will stay on, what do I use it for?
The eyeshadows without primer look more sparkly, but that's just the lighting.
The eyeshadows with primer are just as sparkly when the sun is shining on them!
Pigmentation! It's hard to tell with the lighter color since my skin is slightly red from wiping off other swatches I did for another post, but you can see the difference with the darker color. I applied even amounts of eyeshadow all over my hand, so that's definitely the primer at work. Even with the most pigmented of eyeshadows, this primer makes them look a lot better.
These are Rimmel eyeshadows, by the way. It's a quad in "Smoky Brun." I'll have a post on that eyeshadow quad coming soon!
Basically, I'm in love with this primer. It's only $7 as opposed to more expensive, high end brands, and it works just as well, in my opinion. Give it a try if you're looking for a cheaper alternative.

This looks SO lovely! Need it in my collection :( Haha. Great photos!
